Halloween in the Hill Country!

It’s Halloween time in Hunt, TX and there are tons of spooky and fun happenings around the Hill Country these days.

This year Meghan, Meredith and I decided to make our own Halloween costumes. I decided to be a leopard. I made my costume by making a no-sew tutu . I found a very simple tutorial online. Using leopard print toole, a black tank-top, black shorts, and black tights I managed to get a pretty cute DIY costume together. Using the left over toole I made ears. It was very quick and simple. If you would like to learn more about the no-sew tutu, here is a link to the tutorial: http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2009/01/want-to-make-your-own.html .  We also made Meghan a Rubiks cube costume and Meredith an Ipod costume. Using cardboard, construction paper, and spray paint we managed to get some pretty cute costumes together.

Whenever there is an event at the Hunt School, the whole community turns out. The Carnival is always a huge draw. All children (and many adults) dress in costume and gather just after 5 for the costume contest and “spook parade”. Once at the school itself, there is “trunk or treat” (since country kids can’t trick-or-treat), a spaghetti supper, silent auction, and carnival events with prizes. People of all ages get to visit and watch the kids or participate themselves. Jane and her niece and nephew were in attendance, and Meghan volunteered serving food!

On Sunday at Jeeper and Meredith’s house we all gathered for an office Halloween party. Some of us watched football, while other carved pumpkins. There were lots of yummy treat to snack on and a good time was had by all! Do you recognize all of our staff? It seems everyone dressed for the occasion!
